ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
Unfortunately, I’ve received another tragic accident report. Once again, an opportunist and unlicensed individual deceived someone by claiming to provide lessons and take them to their driving test using their personal vehicle.
During the lesson, the student made a mistake, and since the car didn’t have an instructor’s brake, the opportunist couldn’t intervene, resulting in an accident.
The Consequences:
• The learner’s license was suspended.
• They had to pay a $1000 fine.
• Since the vehicle was insured privately, the insurance company refused to cover the costs for both the other party and the learner’s vehicle.
As a result, because the learner drove with a G1 license and was involved in an accident, no insurance company will insure them when they buy a car. Or, they will be charged a monthly premium exceeding $1000.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OPPORTUNIST?
The opportunist denied providing lessons, threatened the student by claiming the car was stolen, and scared them. They faced no consequences and continue deceiving others without any accountability.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
1. Always ask for a license from anyone offering to teach you. Providing lessons without a license for payment is illegal.
2. Ensure the car has an instructor’s brake.
3. Confirm they have driving school insurance.
Dear Friends,
There may also be people who offer to take you to your driving test. If you hold a G1 license, it is illegal to drive on highways with someone who is not a licensed instructor.
In the event of an accident or being stopped by the police, all responsibility falls on the G1 license holder driving at that time.
If an accident or police stop occurs, always report the individual teaching you or taking you to the test to the authorities. Do not believe their promises like, “I’ll handle the repairs,” or, “I’ll pay the fine.” They will block your calls within minutes. Do not be afraid of anyone—trust the law.
Remember, licensed instructors have insurance that protects both students and instructors in the event of an accident. This includes covering damages and hospital expenses. This is why we pay high monthly premiums for insurance.
Stay safe, and always ask for a license.
